Jewellery Illustration – The Magic Of Jewellery Illustration

It’s not often a book comes along and Andrew thinks…

Andrew was sent an image of a silver ring that had been ‘carved’ and had a patina on it. He was asked if there was a film on At The Bench that showed this technique and if there wasn’t, then would he consider making a film showing how this ring was made. And so here is the short series on a carved silver ring.

Jewellery Illustration – Rendering Diamonds

Jewellery illustration is the language by which an idea…..

Our main job as jewellers is to create a piece of jewellery but we also need to finalise our designs so we can see what the piece will look like. This is more important if we are creating an item for a client as they also need to see what the finished item is going to look like.
In these films, Andrew takes you through the processes involved with rendering diamonds. The larger the drawing the easier it is to make an accurate representation of the diamond but the smaller you make the drawing the more you have to generalise.

Designing & Sketching – Rendering Rings using Templates Part 2

In these two films, Andrew takes you through the processes…..

Jewellery illustration is the language by which an idea is transformed into reality. With a simple pencil, we can convert our ideas onto paper, refining the design, studying the proportions and positioning of design elements. And then by using colour we can portray colour, white gold or yellow gold, sapphires, rubies, amethysts etc.

Design – Custom Design Sheet

Depending on how you accept custom orders, it is all too easy…..

Use Andrew’s Custom Design Sheets to help you remember all the little details of your design. Don’t leave anything to chance. Remember, the client is always right. So if your client is not happy with the final item you have just made and there is no written proof that the way you have made it is what the client agreed on, you will have to remake the item which will take more time that you can not charge for. Andrew shows you how to use the Custom Design Sheet so no errors are made.
