Assembling A Crucible Holder Correctly

We sell a lot of these crucible holders and indeed we have been using them for many years ourselves too and we pretty much don’t think about the problems people have using them. In this film Andrew looks at how to adjust if necessary the holder and to make sure the crucible stays put when being tipped up to pour out the molten metal.

Product Review – Rectangular Mould Frames

The availability of rectangular sand mould frames has been very…

Andrew has been badgering Matthew Durston for a few years trying to get him to produce rectangular mould frames for sand casting. Whilst the round frames that are readily available are OK, sometimes a rectangular mould works better. in this film Andrew simply shows you how to use the rectangular mould to has a tomahawk pendant. We don’t go into the cleaning up of the pendant but simply show you how we sand cast it.

Product Review – Durston Setters Bench

This is the latest bench from Durston Tools but it is no…

This bench has been in development fro quite a few years now and we were very fortunate to get our hands on one of the first hot off the production line. It is a very heavy bench with all solid wood construction and comes in a large box. We had to take the pieces out of the box to get it into At The Bench HQ and up the stairs so please be aware of this. But saying that, it went together really easily and is rock solid. It has space for a microscope but you don’t necessarily need one. A good pair of Optivisors would easily do the trick.

This video is in response to a video request from an At The Bench member……

By using a flexi shaft / pendant drill you can bezel set a stone that has the most perfect bezel wall with not lumps and bumps and with the stone set perfectly and not all wobbly. Not all stones can be subjected to the heat of a torch so Andrew tells you what stones can be used using this techniques. Andrew bezel sets a cubic zirconia and then cuts the setting off and solders it onto a ring blank.
