Pendant drills are fantastic at their job but sometimes, especially for prolonged usage, the handpiece and flexi shaft can become heavy and restrictive.

Micromotors are a compact lightweight solution. This Strong Micromotor is a lowcost alternative to the pendant drill. The motor is contained in the handpiece but it is extremely light and also has a quick release chuck. The variable controller is sat on the bench. This model has an on/off foot control too.

After years of designing, making and repairing jewellery you can easily get in a rut and use the same polishing compounds that you have always used.

If you see a new polishing compound in a tools catalogue do you take the chance and buy it? After trying this new Menzerna polish, Andrew will certainly be using this from now on. The quality of finish is exceptional. Don’t just take his word for it though, try it yourself – you will not be disappointed!

Product Review – Optivisor

Click to Watch

You don’t need to have bad eyesight to wear an optivisor.

An optivisor simply magnifies what you look at. You may feel that your normal eyesight is good enough and it is for most things but for jewellery making, having the extra magnification can only be a good thing. It enables you to see minute scratches, make sure lines are equal, ensure you have a perfect polish, make sure your stone setting is perfect etc. So do yourself a favour and ensure that your jewellery is better than your competition – grab yourself an optivisor.

Product Review – FireScoff

Click to Watch

It’s not often a commercial product comes along that Andrew finds is better than an ‘old’ product or better than a ‘homemade’ one, but when he was given a bottle of FireScoff, Andrew realised that this product was a winner.

FireScoff beats all the other product hands down for protecting surfaces from firescale or the patina. As a test, Andrew soldered gold onto a highly reflective plate after he had sprayed the surface with FireScoff. No flux was needed. When the piece was brought out of the ultrasonic, the plate was still as shiney as it was before and not the slightest bit of discolouration. So the plate needed no polishing at all. Saving you time and money

Product Review – GT600S Butane Torch

Click to Watch

Have you ever needed more power from your regular hand held butane torch? Do you wish that you could heat up your solder joints quicker? Do you want to make larger items like bangles and anneal large pieces of metal?

If you have answered ‘yes’ to any of the above, then the New GT600S could well be your answer. It is still refillable with butane gas canisters but it has that extra capacity to hold more gas and it also has a larger ‘hotter’ nozzel. Great if you want more heat and a larger flame.

Product Review – DermaGuard Cream

Your hands are your number one tool so it pays to look after them. Every day we wash our hands and so the skin dries out. You need to replace the moisture using an oil or cream, but not every one can use the ‘normal’ hand creams. This is where Derma Guard comes in.

DermaGuard is the ultimate truly hypoallergenic moisturising topical barrier lotion which guards the skin from the widest array of possibly harmful materials.
