Part Three

When you are young and in love, money doesn’t matter when it comes to giving…its the thought that counts.

A gentleman approached Andrew to help him re-create a pair of ear rings in exactly the same style but using the original stones. The ear rings were originally given as a wedding present but they were gold plated and fairly inexpensive. Now he has a little more disposable income, the gentleman wants them made up in 9ct gold in the same style using the original stones.

Video Project – Adding Resin to a Ring Part Two

Part Two

Now Andrew has made his ring with raised edges, there is so much he could do with it.

Adding resin to the groove in the middle seemed a colourful idea and with Valentines Day approaching, red seemed an appropriate colour. A special type of resin is needed for this project, thixotropic. The resin, although it can be mixed and it is runny whilst being mixed, it soon becomes thick and non runny when left alone. Strange but true.

Part Three

After hunting high and low for a ready made silver ring with raised edges for a project with resin, Andrew resorts to make one himself.

After experimenting with cold enamelling resin, Andrew had an idea for a ring but it had to be a certain style of ring with raised edges. In these 3 films, Andrew shows you how easy and inexpensive it is to make your own ring. The style lends itself not just to cold enamelling resin but to a whole host of project possibilities.

Part Four

Using the Eid Longhi Delrin stackes, Andrew shows you how to create a synclastic bangle using anti tarnish silver. Is this new silver as good as they say?

“A synclastic form is a compoundly-curving plane in which the convexity of the axial and the radial lines is oriented in the same direction. A way to understand this is to think of ‘syn’ meaning ‘same’ and ‘clastic’ meaning ‘curve’. Thus, ‘synclastic’ means ‘same curve’.” Extract from Cynthia Eid on the Bonny Doon Press
